Haven't used it (haven't got a "smart" phone), but physics dictates
that if a device is constantly sending out radio waves to find and
communicate with surrounding devices, that will use power. That app
apparantly uses Bluetooth to find surrounding phones, hence lots more
Bluetooth radio waves coming from it, hence more power consumption.
