That was about the only one which was installed.
I went through the other k******-devel packages, and now:
- there were no more errors
- something useable was generated in subdirectory RPMS/x86_64
- that "something useable" could be installed.
Now I have to see if this new rpm is any better than what I had in there 
previously, but thank you very much - any remaining problems are 
probably down to incompatibilities between the levels.
