Colbert is a "superfan", meaning he has memorized and can regurgitate a 
bunch of factoids. That's all. He doesn't understand it, he can't discuss
 it intelligently, and he despises everything Tolkien actually believed in. 
His "love" for it is superficial at best and more like a fetish, again, like 
many "fans".
