I've tried 4 or 5; some are impenetrable; one says it can "connect" to
the e-s server but won't get newsgroups. Others say they do usenet but
actually seem focussed on RSS and similar channels. 

This one, for all its shortcomings, feels the most natural to use, at
least for reading.
