As far as I'm concerned, Microsoft is neither great not terrible. It 
does a good job on some products, a mediocre job on some, a poor job on 
some, and a terrible job on some (Edge is one of the terrible ones). 
With rare exceptions (Excel, for example), there's a better choice 
available for all Microsoft products.

Note the word "available" in the sentence you replied to. I was 
referring to currently available browsers, not ancient ones. Is IE6 
still available for Windows 10 (Windows 10 is what this newsgroup is 
about)? I don't know but I strongly doubt it.

Moreover it's been so long since I last saw IE6 that I remember little 
about it, and I can't compare it with Edge. Was it worse than Edge? 
Maybe. Maybe not. I don't know and I don't care. I'm only interested in 
the choices available to me *now*.
