I used to belong to a couple Alaska news groups, which seem now to have disappeared, but this may be a place to hang out? I'm almost a sourdough, having lived in Alaska since '75, at places like Adak, Tanana, Juneau, Homer, and now Anchorage. Other news groups I visit are about Taoism, Shakespeare, and survival, but I won't cross-post. I'm pretty tame, actually, so don't flame or troll. Just on the chance someone has a clue for me about something I've been wondering about, I've been hearing this mysterious noise, seeming to be a high pitched, low volume car horn coming from outside. Looked around on the Internet and see where others have been mystified, too, by what they call "The Hum," although some say it's low-pitched. Driving around Anchorage, I thought the noise was coming from my engine compartment, like a vacuum leak that comes and goes, but I also hear it from my apartment in the Down Town. Any one else looked into this mystery noise? I haven't been asking neighbors or friends about this, but now I think I will. bookburn
